Many people believe that the fact that supplements are sold freely means that they are completely safe and can be consumed in high doses. However, this is not always the case, as high doses of vitamins or minerals, for example, have been shown to be dangerous and even toxic.

Vitamin C in large quantities can interfere with the body's ability to absorb copper, which is a necessary metal for the body. Too much phosphorus can inhibit calcium absorption.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking large doses of any vitamin, mineral or other supplement.
